Maplesteads' WEA Autumn Course - in Great Maplestead Village Hall. This course, with popular tutor Simon Doney, looks at the English Civil Wars of 1642-49 and how the struggle between the Roundheads and the Cavaliers had a profound effect on English history. The 2-hour sessions start at 7.00pm. More details and information here.

Sunday 23rd September

Harvest Festival Service - at St Giles' Church Great Maplestead, with the St Giles' Festival Choir. Starts 11.00am followed by a Bring and Share Lunch in the Church. Everybody welcome.

Saturday 29th/ Sunday 30th September

2018 Flower Festival - in the Round Church. Saturday 10.00am - 5.00pm; Sunday 10.00am-4.00pm. Entry £2 per person/children free. Refreshments available all day, both days. More details & poster here.

Saturday 13th October

Antiques Street Show - in Gestingthorpe Village Hall, from 10.00am - 1.00pm. Valuers from Reeman Dansie in Colchester will be present to appraise and value your items. There will be a £2.00 charge for each appraisal, with all profits going towards the maintenance and improvement of the Village Hall. Light refreshments will be available.

Saturday 13th October

World Polio Day Tea Party - at Mossings, Lucking Street, Great Maplestead from 3.00pm. Part of a world-wide Rotary Club campaign to help raise funds to eradicate polio. More details here.

Saturday 10th November

Maplesteads’ WW1 Centenary Celebration in Great Maplestead Village Hall. A commemoration of the 100-year anniversary of the end of World War 1, with a hog-roast meal and an Old Time Music Hall evening of locally-originated entertainment. Doors open at 7.00pm for this charity event, with proceeds going to the Royal British Legion. Tickets will be available only from the Box Office (01787 461 421 between 10.00am & noon) from 8th October. More details here.
